The above saying is often repeated.  Do you believe it?  ECCLESIASTES 7:8, says “Endings are better than beginnings….

Last Thanksgiving Day, this same phrase was referred to on National Television by Joe Buck, who was the announcer for the Detroit Lions vs Green Bay Packers football game.  Lauren Alaina, who was the runner-up in the American Idol competition this year, forgot a line to the National Anthem and there was an uneasy silence!  Instead of quitting and getting flustered, Lauren kept her poise and resumed her singing.  She sang the rest of the Anthem flawlessly, flashing her beautiful smile!  When she finished, the audience roared their approval!  Joe Buck then added his comment, “It is how you finish that counts”!

This can certainly be true of our lives.  Maybe sometimes we get off to slow starts in the things we do.  But God’s Word tells us to continue with what we are doing and do our best to improve as we go on . In II Timothy 4:7, Paul also said, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith”.  He wanted to FINISH WELL!

What are you trying to do today? Are you having a hard time or are you improving and on your way to finishing well? One day we will stand before God and give an account of what we did in this life.  I want to hear Him say, “Well done, Bob, you have been faithful and you finished well”!  I can only do this as He gives me the help and strength. For whatever results happen I give Him ALL the praise and glory!

How are you doing today on your road to finishing well?
